What is your role as the Youth Director at Sardis Fellowship?

I oversee our Youth Ministry. We have one group for middle school students called Fuel, and another group for high school students called Ignite.

How long have you been working in this role?

Since December 2019.

What do you love about what you do?

I love creating space for students to grow in community and grow in their faith in Jesus. I love seeing our students make friends and develop community with other believers. I love getting to pour into the next generation and help them navigate life as they develop into the people God made them to be. I love talking with students about things that matter to them and working with our awesome team of Youth Leaders to walk along our students as they traverse the complexities of life as a youth.

If you could recommend a favourite place in Chilliwack what would it be and why?

Just a few kilometers before you reach the Lindeman Lake Parking Lot, on Chilliwack Lake Road (on the north side of the road), you'll find an orange letter “K” spray painted on a telephone pole. Pull off the side of the road and wander up the trail on the north side about 20-30 minutes and you'll come upon Bosumarne Falls. There's a serene spot, by the lower falls, just west of the teepee, and a much bigger upper waterfall about 15 minutes up the fork to the north. It's one of Chilliwack's hidden treasures, and it's well worth the trek. My wife Jennifer and I have been up to Bosumarne in every season and it's a spectacle every time.

Also, if you like cheap sushi, Sushi Yama beside Staples has some of the best prices in town. I grew up in Chilliwack, and young adults spend exorbitant amounts of money on wonderful unnecessary things like sushi, which theoretically means that the spending habits of my early 20's is a good recipe to save you some money on sweet, sweet sushi.
