Serving at Ruth & Naomi's

Serving at Ruth & Naomi’s: July 13th, 2026

Ruth and Naomi's Mission is "transforming the lives of people experiencing homelessness, poverty, or struggling with addiction by bringing hope and healing through the love of God."

Sardis Fellowship has the opportunity to serve a meal at Ruth and Naomi’s every second Monday of the month from 5:45-7:15pm. We will be serving the food and cleaning up afterwards and need a max of 7 volunteers per night who are 16 years or older.

Ruth and Naomi’s is located at 41630 Margaret Avenue. Arrive at 5:45pm and go to the smaller office building not the multi-story housing building. The Hall Entrance has a white canopy over it and once inside talk to the RAN host. The host will show you where you are to serve and what needs to be done. Enjoy time serving and visiting with people, then helping with taking down tables and cleaning up. Clean up is usually finished by 7:15pm.

Thank you for serving in this area.

Wes Olmstead -- Revelation Micro-Course: Session 3

‘The Apocalypse of the Cross’: How to Read Revelation Wisely in a Fractured World

Even though it seems intimidating and is often misunderstood, the Book of Revelation has a powerful message for people who want to follow Jesus. As the title suggests, our goal will be to listen to it carefully and to read it wisely.

Wes Olmstead will be leading us through a micro-course of Revelation. Three sessions will be held at Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church. The first will be held on Sunday, May 31st during our worship service. The second will be held on Sunday, May 31st at 7pm. The third will be held on Monday, June 1st at 7pm.

Sunday, May 31st at 10am:
How to Read Revelation Wisely.
Revelation 1-8

What ‘is’ Revelation and how should we read it?

Sunday, May 31st at 7-9pm:
The Apocalypse of the Cross.
Revelation 2, 3, 5

What do we see when ‘the heavens are opened’?

Monday, June 1st at 7-9pm:
The Apocalypse of the Crosses.
Revelation 12, 13

What does Revelation really teach about following Jesus?

Wes Olmstead is the Henry Hildebrand Professor of Biblical Studies at Briercrest College and Seminary, where he has served since 1989. Although most of his published works focus on Matthew’s Gospel, he teaches across the New Testament and gives leadership to Briercrest’s innovative Greek language program, the highlight of which is a semester-long introduction to ancient Greek by immersion, set on the Greek-speaking island of Cyprus. Faith has been his life partner for nearly 42 years. Together, they have two adult children—Bryndon who lives with his wife Felicia in Greece, and Brooke, who is a student at Duke University in North Carolina.

Day of Prayer and Fasting

  • Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us for our Day of Prayer and Fasting on June 1st. You can choose to participate in this day of prayer however you would like, wherever you find yourself. As an initiative to increase our dependency on the Spirit, and seeking God to do a transformative work in and through Sardis Fellowship, we set aside the first Monday of every month to fast and pray. We know not everyone is able to do this in the same way, or to the same degree, so we ask you to consider how you can make this work for you. Each month we highlight something to focus on, whether that be in the life of our church family, our local community or world. Sometimes we have specific things for you to pray through and sometimes we just give you the focus and allow God’s Spirit to guide you in your prayer time around that topic.

Our focus for June 2026 will be on praying for our Sardis Kids Soccer Camp coming up on July 6th to 10th. Take time to pray that kids who need to hear about this opportunity would hear about it, through social media, announcements, parents, or even a friend inviting them. Let's pray that some from our Afternoon Adventures program at Evans Elementary would sign up as well. Pray for those families that do not attend church and may not know Jesus to sign up. Pray for families to come to faith and to find community at our church. And pray that while the kids are in the program that they would have a wonderful experience of fun, friendship, and coming to know the Jesus that loves them so much.

Being a Good Neighbour - Session 1

Being a Good Neighbour - An interactive conversation about Sto:lo and settler relations in Chilliwack

Part of our vision as a church is to be visible in our community. One of the first steps in being a good neighbour is understanding our neighbours. Come on out to an interactive, two part conversation lead by Kyle Froese about our Sto:lo neighbours that will guide us through a process to better understand our history, so that we might be better neighbours as individuals and as a church. So come out at 7pm on May 7th (for part one) and 7pm on May 14th (for part two).

Dates: May 7th at 7pm, May 14th at 7pm
Location: Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church
